Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Food and drink
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Food and drink. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting.
Anyone can help maintain the list on this page:
- To add a new AfD discussion (once it has already been opened on WP:AFD):
-
- Look through the list of current discussions to find items related to this subject area.
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You can also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Food and drink}}<small>—~~~~</small> to it, which will inform users that it has been listed here.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Food and drink.
Please note that adding an AfD to, or removing it from, this page does not add it to, or remove it from, the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page, before adding it to this page.
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

[edit] Food and drink
[edit] Oxley gin
I removed the spam tag, as I don't see any advertisement anywhere, but don't think it fits under any criteria (possible hoax though). I'm assuming this is a home-made recipe. Not notable, Gsearched it and found no relevant searches. ZooFari 01:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- Delete hard to classify though. -Falcon8765 (talk) 03:09, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

- Delete as spam, probably copied verbatim from a press release or other promotional material. I recommend adding Cold Distillation to this AfD, since it's clearly related spam for the same nonnotable product. Despite a single report in a possibly reliable source, both articles fail WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:N. Deor (talk) 13:23, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- Comment it also appears to be original research seeing that the POV is not neutral. There is some WP:HOWTO involved as well. ZooFari 15:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

DELETE. I see about 4,400 Google matches for this but nothing to suggest it is an actual notable dish in need of a Wikipedia article. JBsupreme (talk) 07:36, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

- Keep. Without resorting to "other stuff exists", I have to say this looks no more or less notable than many of the other food entries. Just check out, for example, this list of sandwich entries... Hairhorn (talk) 11:04, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- Keep. I'm not aware of any specific policies that cover obscure ethnic foods, but there seem to be enough results on Google Books and Google News to satisfy WP:GNG:

- Keep per Hairhorn. The proposed reason for deletion is surely tripe. :) Ben MacDui 18:51, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- Keep as a well known regional dish. Certainly has notability outside of Scotland as well. Blue Square Thing (talk) 21:18, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- Redirect to Bubble and Squeak. It is called that in many parts of Scotland, also. Trista (cannot log in at work)24.176.191.234 (talk) 21:43, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

The article does not indicate in what way this product is notable, it is a minimal 2-line stub. The single reference given is to an article which briefly mentions the brand as being acquired by Coca Cola some years ago. It was prod'ed, but the prod removed with a reference to a google search which mentions the product some archived Google news articles. I did not check all of them, but the first one is again a trivial mention which merely lists this brand among many other brands in Indonesia. LoverOfTheRussianQueen (talk) 22:54, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

- Weak keep I understand the nomination argument, but a $20 million subsidiary of Coca Cola is something the world may wish to know about. Chutznik (talk) 22:14, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Coke is a $30 Billion dollar company. $20M is drop in a bucket (excuse the pun) in that context. LoverOfTheRussianQueen (talk) 14:46, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
