[edit] Assyrian people
Hi, you moved the article some time age to the current name, though no correct poll had been made and no actual consensus had been reached. After the move, there was a new discussion and poll, where there was a real consensus between all parties, regarding to move the article to a compromised title, as can be seen at the talkpage; Talk:Assyrian_people#properly_formatted_opinion_poll_on_article_title. I'm coming to you with this, since you were the one who made the hasty move to the current misleading title. Greets, The TriZ (talk) 15:35, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- I see no such consensus. There was a discussion between Iraqi, Malik Danno, and yourself that produced no fruitful agreement, and a discussion between Yannismarou and dab that wasn't directly related to the article title, and likewise unproductive. Most of the editors who took part in the move request were not involved with this discussion, so it cannot be said to represent much of anything. Furthermore, the request that I closed was filed and closed in accordance with the procedure at WP:RM. There certainly was a poll (which lasted for a week, when the standard length of requests was 5 days), the vast majority of the participants of said poll supported the move. I have stated repeatedly in relation to this that consensus =! unanimity. Lastly, I have no shred of interest in what the title of the article is, I came to the page because there was the request at WP:RM, nothing more. I have no intention of becoming involved any further with the article, and I have no obligation to do anything in regards to the title. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 02:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

- Please read the discussion between Dab and Yannismarou, the first poll that resulted in you moving the article was misleading and wrongly formatted, the second poll and discussion showed that there was no consensus of moving the article and therefore the article should not have been moved. - You're missing the point; asking dad after mom told you that you can't go to your friend's house doesn't work. Only a handful of people took part in the second poll, and the majority of those who participated in the first poll were not informed of the second. If anything, it has less of a claim to legitimacy than the first, since outside parties were not included in the second. Parsecboy (talk) 14:58, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, I believe you are wrong here. The first poll mainly consisted of partisan users, just check the user pages. And surely outside parties were included in the second, as you can see, both parties voted for a comprimised title (myself, Gabr-el and Benne) and the outside party including Dab. Also as you can see, other users involved in the discussion, didn't vote for the current title. The TriZ (talk) 16:48, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

- Dab is not an outside party; he's been involved with the article for quite some time. So have Benne and Gabr-el. And most of those who took part in the discussion didn't explicitly vote, though their opinions were generally contrary to the "compromise title." Parsecboy (talk) 03:13, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Amazing Race Wikipedia
Hello, Parsecboy. Welcome to the Amazing Race Wikipedia. In your travels, you will encounter two types of tasks. In a Detour, you have a choice between two tasks. Both of you must work together on this. In a Roadblock, one team member must work on a task alone. Your Amazing Race Wikipedia submissions page is located here. Enjoy the competition! Best, Shappy (talk · contribs) and Firestorm (talk · contribs). 19:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ready to own the Amazing Race? ;) Also, congrats on the Moltke class FA! —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 03:05, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yup. I'm glad it doesn't start until 1 July, 'cause things are pretty hectic with the wedding this weekend. And then there's the honeymoon where I'll have zero access to the internet. But once July rolls around, I'll be ready to go :) Oh, and thanks for all your help with the Moltke class, I appreciate your reviews! Parsecboy (talk) 03:09, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm glad too :) Have yourself an amazing time at the wedding and during the honeymoon! Buuuut if you make an edit that I catch from this weekend to whenever the honeymoon ends, there will be severe consequences...
- You are most welcome, although I didn't do that much... —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 03:15, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it! The honeymoon is in Florida, and we're going to do this "swim with manatees" thing and an air boat ride through the Everglades. Should be pretty fun. Yeah, well, I'm not taking my laptop, so I don't know how I could make an edit :P
- Hey, every extra set of eyes helps. And you cropped this up nicely, not to mention a number of copyedits and helping with those infernal OCLCs :D Parsecboy (talk) 12:04, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Nassu's
Those are featured, I grant, but not yet a featured topic. I have faith that they will be in time though :) TomStar81 (Talk) 14:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

- Yeah, we'll get there. My ultimate grandiose pipe-dream is to get a High Seas Fleet FT. I don't know if your Iowas or Cam's Yamatos could stand up to the entire German battlefleet :D Although by then I'm sure you'll have the SoDaks by then too. That would get ugly. - Yeah, the only problem is that I'll largely be doing the work by myself. At least you and Tom have other editors involved with Operation Majestic Titan. Granted, it's significantly larger than the HSF, but as they say, many hands make lighter work. Or something like that :D Parsecboy (talk) 11:57, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

(out) - yeah, that's not the most fun. :/ At least you have the interest to do them, and think—every one furthers your knowledge of the HSF for your future dissertation! Goodness though...73 + class articles is a lot to think about. I'll just plug away at some I find interesting and hopefully it'll be enough when combined with everyone else's efforts. —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 01:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC) —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 01:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm glad I've been working on these articles for so long, because now that's all the easier my honors thesis will be. And by the time I get to my dissertation, maybe the HSF FT will be done! I joined Majestic Titan today; I don't think I'll be able to do any articles by myself (unless I go buy some more books, of course), but I can provide plenty of logistical support. Parsecboy (talk) 01:36, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- FYI, the "limited and full preview" search on Google Books is your friend :) Without it, I would never be able to complete individual ship articles like Minas Geraes. —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 02:09, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Operation Majestic Titan
Every little bit counts. Additionally, I'd be happy to extend you the same advisory role I offered ed, if you are interested in joining. TomStar81 (Talk) 19:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll join, and I can be an adviser; I'm definitely on frequently enough :) I was thinking I'd add my name to the SoDak work group. I'll be out of the loop basically until the first of July, but after that I'll be around. Parsecboy (talk) 22:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
-
- FYI: I'm also planning on working on the SoDak class article, so I thought I'd let you know that I intend to work on that as well eventually. Usually, when I work on article, I move it into my sandbox for development, so if you want to work on the article with me we will need to figure out how to work together to improve the article.

[edit] Death by Stereo
Is the old Death by Stereo gone for good,[1] or can it be recovered as Death By Stereo (American band) (or Death by Stereo (American band)? 199.125.109.99 (talk) 03:51, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- This appears to have already been fixed (I was away for a week, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Parsecboy (talk) 01:52, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Why hello there! It's been so long that I thought you might need the above. ;) Hope the honeymoon was awesome. Cheers dude, —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 21:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Lol, that's hilarious. I saw the "Hello, {{BASEPAGENAME}}..." and thought "what the?" Yeah, the honeymoon was great, we went to Disney down in Florida for 5 days, and then we went out to Titusville for some other stuff; we saw one of the shuttles on the launch pad at Kennedy, found a practically abandoned beach to hang out on, and an airboat ride in a small river. A pretty good time all around.
- Speaking of me being gone for so long, how has Wikipedia kept running without my expert administration? :D Parsecboy (talk) 22:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sure sounds like it was an amazing time! :) Did the thing with the manatees pan out?
- It's been too easy; maybe you aren't as valuable as you thought hahaha :P By the way, you might find this interesting. —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 23:24, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Nah, it was raining on and off all morning, and that apparently freaks the manatees out, so we couldn't get close to them :( (who would have thought rain would bother something that was already completely wet?)
- All I know is that my best man (and former roommate in the Army) told me I was irreplaceable (I guess his current roommates are kinda gross—one doesn't do much laundry and the other eats in a disgusting manner). I just assumed it was the same on here. I mean, who's going to write articles on the German Navy if I up and died?
- That is an interesting article. I had no idea it was going on (which I guess was the idea, right?) Parsecboy (talk) 23:36, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

- Oh, and don't worry, even though I was on my honeymoon, I still did some work for Wikipedia: this is the only surviving example -> File:Me-208.jpg File:Me-208 2.jpg, File:Me-208 3.jpg. Oh, the dedication! :D Parsecboy (talk) 01:51, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Amazing Race Wikipedia Starts!
Hello, Shappy. This is a reminder that Amazing Race Wikipedia will start very soon. At 00.00 (or whereabouts), our host Firestorm will place the first Detour on your submissions page. Again, the Detour is a choice between two tasks; both members of the team choose one task and work together to complete it. A Roadblock is a task only one team member must perform; he/she may not have any help from the other team member. Good luck and enjoy the Race! :-) Shappy (talk · contribs) and Firestorm (talk · contribs) --EdwardsBot (talk) 13:33, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, do you still want to do this or would you rather focus on writing normally? It really doesn't matter to me, and I know you have an ACR and FAC up from my watchlist; feel free to say you don't want to if that is how you feel :) —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 02:18, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Image
Hey dude, where did you find tihs image? —Ed (Talk • Contribs) 03:36, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's in Friedman's book. He said it was an official design proposal dated Aug. 37. Think I ought to put that on the image page? Parsecboy (talk) 11:24, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free image question
Hello! Here I am to annoy you again :) I need to know something about this image. It's non-free and its terms of use mention only the article about King Edward's Chair. However, the image would be very useful for the article about coronation (perhaps even as lead image). Is it alright to add the image to the article about coronation? Surtsicna (talk) 20:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again :) Unfortunately, I don't think the image could be used in the coronation article. The problem lies in the "replaceable" qualification for the use of a "fair use" image. Since the article isn't about the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II but the general act of coronation, any other image of any act of coronation (of which there are a number in the public domain) would qualify to replace it. To be honest, I don't think it even qualifies for fair use in the article it's currently being used (for the same reason—there are two PD images of the chair already in the article). I think the only article for which it would possibly qualify as fair use is Coronation of Elizabeth II, which is not a current article. I hope that helps (though it's not the help you had hoped for, unfortunately). Parsecboy (talk) 22:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
