[edit] Proposed deletion of Jim Schelle
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jim Schelle, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- non-notable baseball player who only ever played in one professional game
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:PrideLOGOsm.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:PrideLOGOsm.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:39, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] John Adair
I notice you added John Adair to WP:MILHIST, which is appropriate, but in the project banner, you rated it B-class. Actually, the article has passed a GA review and is currently listed as a GA. Didn't know if this was an oversight, or if there is a specific reason for it. I'd change it myself, but I don't know all the parameters for the MILHIST project banner. Acdixon (talk • contribs • count) 14:39, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I rated it as B as I am not part of any GA review group, etc... and didn't want to put it in GA incorrectly. I have been attempting to find someone in the Mil History group to help me with this, but so far no luck. --dashiellx (talk) 14:53, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Polish 1st Light Cavalry Regiment of the Imperial Guard
Thank you for the Classification. I already added some citations, and I will appeciate if you'll take another look. Some suggestions, maybe? :) belissarius (talk) 01:21, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Appomattox Court House National Historical Park ruins
Thanks Dashiellx for assessing this article. I originally started the article as part of a 16 article hook for a DYK back in January 2009. You have got me thinking now about increasing the quality to perhaps at least a B-Class. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I noticed in the third template banner that it says "This article has not yet received a rating on the project's quality scale," however you rated it Start-Class. Should that statement then be removed? I don't know how to do it. It also says "This article has not yet received a rating on the project's importance scale." Would you like to input here also. Thanks for all the help and ideas you can give me. --Doug Coldwell talk 12:56, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. I am watching Talk:Appomattox Court House National Historical Park ruins/Comments should you come up with any ideas.--Doug Coldwell talk 13:23, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Polish 1st Light Cavalry Regiment of the Imperial Guard
Hi, I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to take another look at the above article and re-assess it. You assessed it last on April 16 and since then there's been a good bit of work - in particular lots of citations added (and if any are missing please fact tag it). I think it's pretty clearly B-class right now if not higher. In fact, part of the reason I'm bugging you about it is because I think the article really has potential to make it to GA or even FA, so outside input is much appreciated. (Note: Since I was involved in the article I don't want to do any reassessment myself). Thanks ahead of time!radek (talk) 05:12, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Welcome! There are more citation in this article then we need for "B" or even "GA" class. What more I have to do? belissarius (talk) 04:49, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Anyone can assess an article for B class. In order for an article to goto GA status, you need Add it to the nomination list. I think this article has a good shot. Good Luck. --dashiellx (talk) 13:08, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Australia in the Korean War 1950-53
Thanks for assessing this article. Which statements do you think require additional citations? - I'm trying to get the article to B-class standard. Nick-D (talk) 11:18, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] citations Anglo-Russian Invasion of Holland
I supplied the requested citations in Anglo-Russian Invasion of Holland, Battle of Callantsoog (1799), and Battle of Alkmaar (1799) as requested, except where I had already given the necessary references. Please see my inline comments. I don't think it is necessary to give a reference for each line in the troop dispositions in Battle of Alkmaar, for instance, as the references are given at the end of the paragraph. The close sprinkling of the citation-needed tags make me suspect that you were overcome with emotion when you rated the articles "start". I hope that a bit of quiet reflection will convince you to give a more appropriate rating.--Ereunetes (talk) 21:40, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- I also noticed that you think that my article Siege of Schenkenschans is insufficiently referenced. I do not find citation requests, and I supplied a number of references, so I wonder what you mean? If you indicate where the article is lacking in your view, I'll be happy to provide additional citations.--Ereunetes (talk) 22:42, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you disagree with some of my tagging but I do personally find your supposition that I was "overcome with emotion" to be a tad bit insulting. My efforts were only to try and help improve the article. I have added some comments to the Talk Page. --dashiellx (talk) 10:53, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- I had no intent to insult you and I apologize if I did. However, in the Aftermath section of Battle of Alkmaar (1799) you had put a citation-needed tag at almost every other sentence. That seemed a bit much to me, especially as these "offending sentences" were simply an abstract of one page in the source I quoted, which you can easily check as a link to the book was provided. I have therefore now provided only two references to that passage. I would like to draw your attention to my comments (also in connection to the Merge) on Talk:Anglo-Russian Invasion of Holland for the other issues that are still open. It appears the article is in flux due to the edits and reverts that are mentioned there.--Ereunetes (talk) 21:54, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Air Battle of El Mansoura
Hi Dashiellx, I've added citations where they were needed to that article. Could you please assess it for B-Class once more? Thanks--Sherif9282 (talk) 08:20, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sandbox
Hi, mate. For some reason your Sandbox is appearing in the Category of Unassessed Military History articles. Not sure if you are aware of this, or if you want to keep it that way. I think you might have been tinkering with the link in your sandbox and left it active. When I'm tinkering with categories in my Sandbox I try to use the nowiki tags, as per below, so that my Sandbox doesn't come up in those categories. This has the added advantage of not drawing the sticky beaks while I'm working in my Sandbox.
[[Category:Unassessed military history articles]]
Anyway, I just thought I should bring it to your attention. Cheers. Have a good one. AustralianRupert (talk) 06:44, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16
The Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)
The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)
The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.
If you're interested, please send John Broughton an email. If you might be interested, but would like further information, please post a note on his user talk page, so that he can respond there, and others can see what was asked.
