Velela is the name of my ancient (1952) GP14 (dinghy) Dinghy named after the Genus of marine Cnidophores Velella - known as "by the wind Sailor".

I am an environmentalist, scientist and naturalist now retired from a career spent working for the UK Government as an Environmental Scientist. By training I am an aquatic biologist who would like to spend more time in my dinghy and on the hills of Snowdonia and less time at the computer.

I have contributed a number of images, a number of which can be seen at my Wikimedia Common page
