Richard Mawrey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Richard Mawrey is a judge in the United Kingdom.
Mawrey's highest profile ruling to date was handed down in 2005 when, as an election commissioner in Birmingham, England, he ruled invalid Birmingham City Council elections held the year before, and required re-votes in two wards, Aston and Bordesley Green.
He blamed most of the electoral fraud on absentee ballot manipulation, and implicated the returning officer and six Labour councillors.
When election officials affirmed the integrity of the mail-in vote, Mawrey replied, "Anybody who has sat through the case I have just tried and listened to evidence of electoral fraud, that would disgrace a banana republic, would find this statement surprising."
