• The British Army, in RAF slang, or in slang in Canada and other Commonwealth nations to refer to either the army or (incorrectly) the military in general from "Where the Army goes, the pong (smell) goes". When used by members of the army, it usually refers to the infantry. The term 'Pongo' was used to refer to members of the British Army by the Royal Navy before the 'Crabfats' (RAF) existed. In this case, referring to the comparison to the genus Pongo of orangutans. Percy is often included with the name Pongo as an alliterative combination and in some cases used on its own.
