Peter J. Freyd is an American mathematician, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, known for work in category theory.

Freyd is perhaps best known as the author of the foundational book Abelian Categories: An Introduction to the Theory of Functors. This work culminates in a proof of Mitchell's embedding theorem.
[edit] False Memory Syndrome Foundation
Freyd and his wife Pamela Freyd founded[1] the False Memory Syndrome Foundation in 1992, after Freyd was accused by his daughter Jennifer of incestuous sexual abuse.[1][2] Peter Freyd denies[3] sexually abusing her.
