From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Walker (18 March 1732 in Colney Hatch, Middlesex – 1 August 1807 in London) was an English lexicographer best known for his Rhyming Dictionary (1775) and Critical Pronouncing Dictionary (1791). In his early life he was an actor and an acquaintance of David Garrick, which may have led to his interest in careful pronunciation.
