Jarte is a modern, light-weight & portable word processor for users of Microsoft Windows. It is based around the WordPad engine. In terms of market appeal, Jarte sits between the feature laden Microsoft Word and other more basic word processors such as Notepad. The standard version of Jarte is offered free of charge; while an enhanced version called Jarte Plus may be purchased. The purchasable version offers a variety of extra features including a Spell_Checker function along with Autocorrect & AutoOutline. In most other respects, Jarte Plus is the same as the freeware version. In terms of design & function, the creators of Jarte, have been deeply influenced by both Mac_OS_X & TextEdit.
Jarte Features
Jarte is fully compatible with Vista & offers 'tabbed' functionality. It reads Doc, RTF, TXT & DOCX. It is also capable of export to HTML or PDF.
Jarte Limitations
Currently, Jarte is only available for Windows Operating systems (2000, XP & Vista), but there is hope that the makers of Jarte will extend coverage to Linux, Unix & Mac platforms.
