Grant Munro (born 15 September 1980 in Inverness) is a professional footballer playing for Scottish First Division side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
[edit] Career
Munro signed on a schoolboy "S" form in 1998 and made his first team debut for Caley Thistle on 2 January 1999 in a 2–1 Scottish Cup defeat by Livingston. He completed periods on loan to Fort William and Elgin City before returning to Caley Thistle, and since 2002 has commanded a regular place in the team's defence.
As a tall, strong central defender, Munro has played an important part in many of Caley Thistle's most memorable games. He played in central defence during Caley Thistle's 3–1 Scottish Cup defeat of Hearts at Tynecastle in January 2002, as well as being part of the team that beat Celtic in 2003.
Munro has a Scottish Challenge Cup winner's medal and a First Division Championship medal, both won with Caley Thistle in season 2003–04. His contribution was also vital in Caley Thistle's first season in the SPL in 2004–05. In July 2007 he was named the new team captain of Inverness CT.
On Saturday 9 February 2008, Munro scored the 1000th goal in the history of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, in a 1–1 draw against St. Mirren. In October 2008, Munro signed a new contract with the Caley Jags to keep him at the club until 2011.[1]
