The Demographics of Asia refers to the changing number and composition of the population of Asia. The continent covers 29.4% of the Earth's land area and has a population of almost 4 billion - accounting for more than 60% of the world population. The People's Republic of China and the Republic of India between themselves alone account for close to 2.5 billion people.

Economically, most of Asia is traditionally considered part of the "Second World", with the significant exception of the industrialized "First World" nations of Japan, South Korea and Turkey. Asian nations in the G20 major economies are People's Republic of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Turkey. Of these, Russia and Japan are also in the G8, and additionally China and India in the G8+5.

Six Asian countries / regions are on the IMF advanced economy list:  South Korea  Hong Kong  Israel  Taiwan  Japan  Singapore.

The Human Development Index is mostly in the "medium" range of 0.5-0.8, with 13 countries in the "high" range:
