The Cluj-Napoca metropolitan area has a population of 379,705.[1] Besides Cluj-Napoca, it includes 17 communes: Aiton, Apahida, Baciu, Bonţida, Borşa, Căianu, Chinteni, Ciurila, Cojocna, Feleacu, Floreşti, Gârbău, Gilău, Jucu, Petreştii de Jos, Tureni, Vultureni.

It will have a population of over 500,000 in the future, when it will include cities like Turda. The metropolitan area of Cluj-Napoca, previously expected to be functional as early as June 2008,[2] came into effect that December.[3]
