A string instrument is a musical instrument that produces sound via vibrating strings and amplifes it in one or both of the two main methods:
- A hollow body with either perforations where the sound comes out or a microphone inside the chamber connected to an amplifier.
- Magnetic or piezoelectric pick-ups convert the string vibration directly into an electrical signal which is amplified and used to drive a loudspeaker.
