Barmby Moor is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of Pocklington. It lies north of the A1079 road where it is met by the B1246 road that passes through the village.

Barmby Moor

According to the 2001 UK census, Barmby Moor parish had a population of 1,065.[1]

The village has a long history and was originally a market town with a coaching inn. For more history see (http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=23017). The village has a church, dedicated to St Catherine, chapel, village hall and a primary school. The former school house now houses a Kids Club and a Pre-School, both are charities run by committed locals. There is also a village shop, which has moved recently into a new purpose-built home, a post office and a pub, The Boot & Slipper, which is well supported by the village.

Each July a traditional fete - the Barmby Feast - is held in the village.

The nearby town of Pocklington has other shops. Further afield York, Hull and Beverley are the nearest larger places.
